Mass Effect: Isolation takes place between the events of Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. Commander Shepard is returning to the SRV Normandy SR-2 when her shuttle is attacked. She manages to crash land on a nearby planet but the shuttle itself is damaged beyond repair.
