Like any great thriller these two characters :The antagonist "Hangman" and the protagonist's "Bishop" stories are separated through the entire film there is an unhealthy obsession from both sides the Hangman believing he is the same as police detective Bishop and on the flip side of that coin Bishop will do whatever it takes to catch him. There is a mutual recognition between the two characters although they will be not saying so over a cup of coffee.
